I suggest you ...

Password to access Splashtop

Hi, i would like to see some security options, like password protection. As i see it, you get full access to any videos, photos and music you have on your HDD. We don't need nothing fancy just the option to password protect it.

Agree with the password protection requirement. A question as to how on a Vista desktop one prevents other user's login screens from getting the Splashtop: status, settings,...prompt as a viewable option.

So where is this password? Congrats on reducing the security of my files to 0%... Needs security ASAP!

the splashtop browser needs a master password at a minimum, since it has the option to remember login details. Having a password for splashtop itself would overcome this issue.

please be soon to add a password feature for this. It was daft not to have it in the first place.

For added protection from websites for your family, look up OpenDNS FamilyShield to make DNS settings on your router to block pornographic sites.

No, currently no password protection for Sony Quick Web Access.

Sergei, thanks for your help so far. I can do searches in XP all day but windows 7 has changed things. I will look at tweaking my searches in windows 7 to show hidden and system files. Thank you

      • SergeiSergei commented  ·

@Brian: The files should be on the HDD, but may be "hidden" and not come up in Windows search. Sorry that I cannot help you here until the password feature is introduced by Sony as an update.

I started this thread an the technique did not work as no splash files exist on the hard drive that can be found to delete or alter, All files liley on motherboard chip?

So What about my computer I just bought for my child Vaio VGN-NW235F. Will there be a soulution for me or is this a question you can not answer. Thank you

      • BrianBrian commented  ·

This is my young sons computer we just bought for him. I do not want him to be able to surf the web without being filtered!

        Help,

      • SergeiSergei commented  ·

@Brian I do not think there is a way to disable it in the BIOS on Sony. Not sure why you would want to, especially since it has its own dedicated "Web" key.

      • BrianBrian commented  ·

        Two Questions.

(1.) Can I disable splashtop in the BIOS settings?

I have an escalated order in with Sony Viao in regards to this as well.

Waiting to hear back from either of you. This is an important problem. Thank you for your quick responce Sergei.

You reference details are not available quite yet,

(2.). Is this situation being looked at with a lot of attention?

        Thank You.

P.S. Hope there is hope for existing machines. I like your product but suprised I have no control over the internet now.

      • SergeiSergei commented  ·

@Brian, whether and when it will be available for existing machines will depend on each OEM, so can't give you the exact details quite yet...

      • BrianBrian commented  ·

"Optional password protection will start to ship shortly" Will this be available for download onto existing machines or just come out as an optio on new machines.

        Thanks, Please let know
